Akteur en sanger PHILIP MOOLMAN word deur meeste mense onthou, as André Vorster van “EGOLI, of Neil Macdonald van “SONKRING.” Sy loopbaan het afgeskop, met die wen van ‘n landswye sang- en liedjieskryf-kompetisie “Ster ’90” (op die T.V-program Grafitti) waarin hy as beste sanger en liedjieskrywer landwyd aangewys word. (Dit was die “Pop Idols” van daardie tyd.) Verskeie T.V-produksies het gevolg: Sonkring, Skattejag, Egoli, Konings, Die Netwerk, Wenners, Rhythm City, Binnelanders, High Rollers, Getroud met Rugby…asook die romantiese hoofrolle in twee plaaslike rolprente: “Die Prins van Pretoria” en “Inside Out”.
Hoofrolle in 4 musikale blyspele het gevolg: ESTHER, LIEFLING, DROOMKIND & ONS VIR JOU, asook `n rol in die film “Snaaks Genoeg.”“My nuwe C.D. is oppad; en verskeie hoofrolle in rolprente, sepies en T.V.-reekse wink” – se Philip Moolman met oë wat blink.
Actor, singer & corporate entertainer PHILIP MOOLMAN is most recognized by the public, for playing the romantic leads : André Vorster in “Egoli,” Neil Macdonald in “Sonkring,” as well as the romantic leads in two South African films: “Die Prince van Pretoria” and “Inside Out.”
His career started in 1989, being acclaimed (by S.A.B.C, BEELD & E.M.I.) as best singer and songwriter in a nationwide competition. (It was the “Pop Idols” of the time.) In the same year he also became the last white finalist in the nationwide “Shell Road to Fame” competition.
His acting career blossomed, before his music career took off: Egoli, Sonkring, Die Prins van Pretoria, Skattejag, Inside Out, Konings, Torings, The Fourth Reich, Wenners, Hillside, Rhythm City, Die Netwerk, Binnelanders, High Rollers, Getroud met Rugby and various other productions followed. He also received an ARTES AWARDS nomination, for best presenter (as the helicopter stunt man) in the programme “Skattejag / Treasure Hunt” – according to Philip Moolman: “my best job ever.”
As the Afrikaans “Pop Idol” of the time (who first became an actor) his music career only kicked off, after his contract with Egoli expired in 1995; he then went on a musical tour for a period of 7 years – covering all provinces of South Africa, as well as Namibia.
Leading roles in 4 musicals followed: ESTHER, LIEFLING, DROOMKIND & ONS VIR JOU, as well as the film “Snaaks Genoeg.”
